Acanthocalycium spiniflorum var. macranthum - El Alto / Catamarca Argentina

Acanthocalycium violaceum. (Syn: Acanthocalycium spiniflorum "violaceum") USDA: 8-10. Frost hardy to 25F. Solitary to clumping growth, up to 2' tall, 6" diameter. Regular water summer; winter keep dry. Full sun to light shade. white to violet flowers. Origin: Banos de Zapallar /San Luis Argentina.

Brasilicactus graessneri. USDA 10a-11. Hardy to 32° F.  Protect from frost. Light shade, best for cool locations. Solitary stem grows to 3" tall, 3" in diameter. Moderate water summer, dry during winter. Yellowish green flowers. Origin:  Brazil.

Brasilicactus haselbergii. USDA 10a-12. Hardy to 32° F. Protect from frost. Light shade, best for cool locations.  Grows rapidly to 4" tall, 6" in diameter.  Moderate water summer,  dry during winter. Deep orange flowers. Origin:  Brazil.

Carnegia gigantea (Saguaro). Sunset: 11-13,18-21; USDA: 9-10. Full sun. Heat tolerant. Little water. Hardy to 15°F. Grows to 50' tall. Origin: Sonoran desert of southwestern USA and Sonora state in Mexico.

Cereus peruvianus monstrosus. Sunset: 12-13,16,17,21-24; USDA: 9-11. Full sun. Heat tolerant. A mutated from of cereus peruvianus. Moderate water, fertilize in summer. Hardy to 26 deg. F. Grows to 15' tall. Origin: Peru.

Cleistocactus smaragdiflorus (Potrerillos/Salta)

Echinocactus grusonii (Golden barrel cacti). Sunset: 11-24; USDA: 9-12. Full sun. Regular water summer. Hardy to 24° F. Grows slowly to 3' tall; 4' wide or more. Origin: Mexico.

Echinocereus coccineus (Mexican claret cup). Clumping growth habit to 16" tall. Often becomes a large colony. Orange red flowers. Origin: Southwestern USA, Mexico. Seeds collected in West Texas.

Echinocereus enneacanthus ssp. brevispinus. Seeds collected from plants with purple flowers. Origin: New Mexico, Texas and northern Mexico.

Echinocereus fasciculatus.

Echinocereus stramineus (Strawberry hedgehog). Clumping growth habit to 2' tall. Can become a colony with hundreds of heads. Large purple flowers to 5". Origin: Southwestern USA, Mexico. Seeds collected from West Texas plants.

Ferocactus cylindraceus (Syn. ferocactus acanthodes). Sunset: 8-24; USDA: 9-10. Full sun. Heat tolerant. Little or no water. Hardy to 20°F. Solitary barrel grows to 6' tall; 16' diameter. Bright red spines. Native to Arizona, California, northern Mexico.

Ferocactus gracilis v. coloratus. USDA 9b-11. Full sun, heat tolerant, needs little water. Hardy to 22°F. Solitary barrel grows to 5' tall; 12" diameter. Red spines. Orange/red flowers. Origin: Baja California Mexico.

Ferocactus herrerae (USDA: 9-11). Full sun. Heat tolerant. Little or no water. Hardy to 20°F. Solitary barrel grows to 6' tall; 16" diameter. Yellow to red flowers, large yellow fruit. Origin: Mexico

Ferocactus horridus. USDA 9b-11. Full sun, heat tolerant, needs little water. Hardy to 25° F. Flowers are golden yellow with reddish mid-stripe. Origin: Mexico (Southern Baja California).

Ferocactus latispinus. (Syn: Echinocactus cornigerus). Sunset: 11-13; USDA: 9b-11. Full sun to light shade, heat tolerant, needs little water. Hardy to 25°F. Pinkish purple or yellow flowers. Origin: Mexico.

Ferocactus rectispinus. USDA 9b-11. Full sun, heat tolerant, needs little water. Hardy to 24°F. Solitary barrel grows to 6'tall. Long straight spines. Flower color varies from orange, red-orange, and yellow. Origin: Baja Mexico.

Ferocactus species mix. (Barrel cactus). An assortment of several ferocactus varieties, including: diguetii, cylindraceus, herrerae, latispinus, peninsulae, rectispinus, schwarzii, wislizenii and others. Ferocactus are one of the easiest cacti to germinate and grow. Nice flowers from yellow to red, and usually colorful fruit.
