Echinocactus polycephalus (Cottontop cactus). Sunset: 10-13; USDA: 8b-11. Hardy to 10° F. Full sun. Regular summer water, dry winter. Clumping cactus, some colonies with over 100 stems, 12 to 24" tall, 4 to 8" in diameter Yellow flowers. Origin: Mohave and Sonoran desert of Arizona, California, Nevada, Mexico.
Needs very high heat to germinate. Around 110° F. day -- 70° F. night. |
