Provide good drainage. Solitary when young, slowly clustering, 12" in diameter, 8" high. Pink flowers. Origin: Texas, southeastern New Mexico, northeastern Mexico.

Usually clumping, often forming large clumps occasionally of several hundreds stems, each stem up to 12"  tall, 3" in diameter . Red or orange flowers with light colored center. Origin: Arizona, New Mexico, northwestern Mexico.
